MISSION STATEMENT As with many things, Community Parks are subject to the wishes, desires and
needs of the entire community. We cannot find any one scenario that will fit
everyones expectations 100%. The goal of this committee is to find the best
solution we can, that benefits the community the most, in our efforts to provide
our community with park facilities designed for residents of all ages.

A historic moment in Wildomar
Last Wednesday was quite a roller
coaster for Bridgette, Gerry, the county Economic Development Agency and myself
("Property owners vote to pay for upkeep of parks," Aug. 31). I was both afraid
and amazed at how close the vote was. Without any overt planning, the "no" votes
almost shut down parks in Wildomar for a second time. While I'm concerned with
how small a value so much of the community appears to have placed on parks, it
has made me appreciate all the people who have made this possible.
The
Parks Support Group, this far-reaching group of individuals, handed out fliers,
put up signs, worked in the street fair, bought pizzas and pies, walked in the
parade rally, e-mailed encouragement to others and stood firm within the
community, pushing hard to accomplish the goal of bringing parks back to
Wildomar. I thank them from the bottom of my heart.
Wednesday was a lot
closer than we expected, had it not been for all of them it would have ended in
failure. What you worked so hard to accomplish is more than just worth it, it's
historic. People in Wildomar will have parks 100 years from now and that will
directly trace back to Aug. 30, 2006.
While this is the end of the road
for the creation of a parks district in Wildomar, it is just the beginning of
our building a park and recreation system that will enhance our lives and that
we can all enjoy.
